Lovely audio blog by Matthew about the CoolWalk he went on – on Saturday 31st August 2013.
This walk was “Myths and Legends”. It started at Nunhead Library, finished at Honour Oak Park Station. A wander through beautiful and spooky Nunhead Cemetery learning more about the gravestones and the mausoleum. Then up One Tree Hill where Queen Elizabeth is said to have fallen asleep under the Honour Oak
CoolWalks are guided walks for wellbeing, giving participants the opportunity to get to know more about their local area’s history and their local Southwark libraries. The project is run by CoolTan Arts and London Borough of Southwark Public Health, NHS Southwark and Southwark Libraries, with all the walks researched, planned and led by volunteers.

Matthew attended a talk at the Bethlem Royal Hospital on Saturday 3rd August 2013.
It was a free talk on Cibber’s statues of ‘Raving’ and ‘Melancholy Madness’, and this summer is also the last chance to see the statues before they go out on loan.
They are going to journey across the Channel on long-term loan in September, returning for the opening of the new Museum of the Mind in the autumn.
Matthew’s blog is great to listen to – you almost feel like you are there seeing the statues for yourself. Worth a listen!
