Maudsley Learning is a new social enterprise with the vision to support and provide world class mental health learning, which is accessible by anyone, anywhere, anytime.
We will achieve this in a number of ways one of which is through our physical space, ORTUS. ORTUS, a stunning new learning and events centre, is based conveniently in Camberwell, South London and is adjacent to the Institute of Psychiatry,
Maudsley Hospital and King’s College London. The centre features over 1500 sq. m of flexible event and learning space split over 7 levels. The ORTUS opened on 3rd June 2013.
We are recruiting for the roles of Service Assistant to deliver the smooth and efficient front of house operation of the building and its activities, including the set up of events and IT equipment. The role can be physically demanding.
Opportunities are available on a zero hour contract basis. Candidates must be available to work primarily between 07:30 and 10:00 or 16:00 and 21:00, other hours may become available.
1. Create the first impression of the ORTUS learning and event centre, providing a warm welcome
2. Assist with the smooth and efficient operation of the building and its activities, including the set up of events and IT equipment
3. Assist in maintaining the safe and secure environment of the ORTUS ensuring all health and safety procedures are followed and standard operating procedures are adhered to
➢ To deliver 4/5* service standards to all visitors of the ORTUS learning and events centre, demonstrating a true passion for customer service
➢ Proactively seek ways to exceed, surprise and delight our visitors and their expectations
➢ Provide a warm, friendly and professional attitude when greeting visitors, communicating clearly and effectively with the ability to be persuasive and firmly polite as necessary
➢ Take pride in the appearance and presentation of all areas of the ORTUS
➢ Assist in the smooth and efficient operation of the ORTUS, taking a flexible and helpful approach to all tasks and requests from visitors and management
➢ To undertake any administration for specific events, e.g. meet and greet delegates, hand out delegate badges, providing directions, undertaking photocopying etc
➢ To use the venue management system to ensure an awareness of the days’ activities, ensuring that all logistics and administration for the smooth running of these activities are addressed in good time
➢ Assist in the servicing of event space, including the moving / relocating of furniture and equipment, ensuring rooms are ready for visitor use at all times
➢ To be able to responsively address and solve any basic technology queries / problems from visitors, for example, WiFi and the AV in the meeting rooms
➢ Compliant with all Health and Safety standards, ensuring safety in the workplace and compliance with all instructions relating to use and storage of equipment
➢ Reporting maintenance requirements such as light bulb, damaged fixtures / fittings to ensure prompt rectification
➢ Act decisively and intelligently in potentially difficult situations.
➢ Reporting all accident and incidents promptly
