Lewisham CCG Strategic PlanPosted: September 17, 2013 | |
We are up for the challenge. Are you?
During September we are asking patients, public, partners and staff whether they are up for the challenge of helping us do things differently in Lewisham. People are living longer with more complicated health conditions and demand for health care is rising but the money is not. We need to do things differently to meet these challenges and deliver our plans to improve health and deliver the best possible care from high quality, safe and affordable services in Lewisham.
This conversation with our partners, patients and local communities will help inform and shape our future plans. It also fits with the Government’s national ‘Call to action’ which sets out how the NHS needs to change to meet the challenges ahead to ensure it is around for future generations.
Marc Rowland, Chair of the CCG, “As the organisation responsible for planning, buying and monitoring healthcare in Lewisham, we have made a commitment to local people that we will involve them in our plans to make sure we have better health, best care and best value for services in Lewisham. We have worked closely with partners on the Lewisham Health and Wellbeing Board when developing our five year commissioning strategy plan. This also included listening to what our patients told us when deciding our priorities. We are now asking you to work with us again to see what we can do differently together to help overcome some of the challenges we face here in Lewisham – which are shared across the whole of the NHS”.
We believe there are three key areas that we need to focus: getting the basics right every time, helping people to stay well and making sure health and care services work together as one.
We are asking people to answer six questions which will help inform our ‘case for change’ – which is the plan for what we need to do differently. These are:
We want to know:
- Are we getting the basics right in local health services at the moment?
- Do we need to include anything else in order to get these basics right?
- How can we support you to stay well?
- What makes it difficult for you to stay well and what can we do differently?
- How can health and social are services work better together?
- What do we need to do differently so that people receive joined up care

We would be grateful if you could pass this message on and encourage your staff, teams and other partners to give us their views. The more people who respond, the better health services will become.
