CONFRONTING THE COLLECTIONS Get involved in the new Museum of the MindPosted: May 23, 2013
In 2014, the Bethlem Royal Hospital Museum will move to the main administration block at Bethlem, with a new Museum of the Mind exhibition. Over the next month, we will be asking for your views on a number of topics associated with the displays and items included. First, we would like you to tell us what our new logo should look like. To have your say, please follow the link to a short online survey: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/BCF5MYQ
Objects in the Bethlem Museum collection include controversial or challenging items: in particular, representations of treatments or physical interventions that may provoke strong emotional responses.
- How do you feel about seeing these objects?
- How should they be displayed and interpreted?
- Should a visitor be able to “opt out” of viewing them?
On Tuesday 4 June, a two-hour focus group will give you a chance to have your say on the display of restraint devices and a padded cell in the new museum. All feedback will be used to inform the designs for the Museum of the Mind, due to open in 2014.
